Gordon Lake Fly-In Fishing Outpost

Trophy Walleye, Northern Pike & Muskie with Modern Wilderness Comfort

Gordon Lake offers a rare combination of elite trophy fishing and modern outpost comfort, making it one of the most efficient and rewarding fly-in destinations in Northwestern Ontario. Located approximately 36–40 air miles from our base in Nestor Falls, Gordon Lake is reached by a short, scenic 20-minute floatplane flight directly into the heart of remote Canadian Shield country.

With only one cabin on the entire lake, guests enjoy total privacy, zero fishing pressure, and immediate access to highly productive water right outside the dock.

Gordon Lake Layout & Fishing Zones

(How to Fish the Lake from the Cabin)

The Gordon Lake outpost cabin sits near the central spine of the lake, placing anglers within minutes of multiple high-percentage fishing zones. The lake’s shape naturally concentrates fish, meaning less travel time and more lines in the water.

Fishing Around the Cabin (Primary Holding Water)

Immediately in front of the cabin, the lake narrows slightly, creating a natural funnel that draws baitfish and predators through the area.

This zone is ideal for:

  • Jigging and slip-bobber fishing for walleye
  • Casting shorelines for aggressive northern pike
  • Early morning and evening feeding windows

Focus on shoreline edges, subtle points, and areas where the lake tightens before opening again.

West Basin – Open Water & Long Points

Heading west from the cabin, Gordon Lake opens into a broader basin with irregular shorelines and extended points.

This section is well suited for:

  • Trolling passes for trophy walleye
  • Working points that taper into deeper water
  • Pike cruising inside turns and weed edges

These longer structures allow fish to move vertically and horizontally, especially during changing weather.

East Arm – Bends, Narrows & Structure

To the east, Gordon Lake stretches into a long, winding arm with multiple bends and choke points.

Each bend creates:

  • Inside edges
  • Drop-offs
  • Current breaks

This area is excellent for:

  • Controlled jigging
  • Casting breaks and points
  • Targeting fish that stage along natural travel routes

Southern Channels – High-Percentage Fishing

South of the cabin, the lake tightens into narrow corridors and channels, creating some of the most consistent fishing on the system.

These sections concentrate fish naturally and are ideal for:

  • Walleye holding tight to structure
  • Pike patrolling edge lines
  • Muskie using the narrows as travel routes

Northern Bays – Pike & Calm-Water Options

North of the cabin, Gordon Lake breaks into smaller bays and pockets.

These areas are perfect for:

  • Casting shorelines for northern pike
  • Fishing sheltered water during windy conditions
  • Exploring quieter holding areas mid-day

The Gordon Lake Fishery

Trophy Walleye Fishing

Gordon Lake is known for producing large, mature walleye. Its compact size and complex structure allow fish to feed efficiently and reach impressive sizes.

Expect:

  • Strong populations
  • Consistent action
  • Excellent evening and low-light bites

Northern Pike Action

Northern pike are aggressive and plentiful throughout the lake system.

Key pike locations include:

  • Shoreline transitions
  • Inside turns of bays
  • Narrows and channel edges

Muskie – The Ultimate Challenge

Gordon Lake is one of our select outposts that holds muskie, often called the fish of ten thousand casts.

These apex predators use:

  • Narrows
  • Points
  • Travel corridors

Hooking a muskie on Gordon Lake is a true trophy experience.

Gordon Lake Outpost Cabin

Cabin Features & Amenities

This is a true housekeeping outpost with full amenities, allowing you to fish hard by day and relax comfortably at night.

Boats, Motors & On-Site Logistics

Guests fish from Lund or Alumarine boats powered by reliable Yamaha or Mercury four-stroke motors. Plenty of boat fuel is supplied on-site, allowing you to explore the entire lake without limitation.

Trip Planning & Weight Limits

To ensure safe flight operations, there is a strict 100-lb per person weight limit, including all gear, groceries, and beverages.

Many guests find that:

  • Groups of four or eight allow weight to be shared more efficiently
  • Adding one more person often means everyone brings more gear

Conservation & Trophy Release Policy

Over 30 years ago, we introduced a strict Trophy Release Policy across our remote lakes.

All trophy-sized fish must be:

  • Photographed
  • Carefully released

This conservation approach is why Gordon Lake continues to produce large, healthy fish year after year.

Why Choose Gordon Lake with Northwest Flying Inc.

  • Short flight time from Nestor Falls
  • One cabin, zero fishing pressure
